October Visit

Ok, so here's the lowdown.
Doctors appointment went well. I have to call back tomorrow to see about the swine flu shot. She explained about the high mortality rate of pregnant women with this particular strain and how the mercury in the vials is inert and less than a can of tuna (which is not inert). I was going to wait till my next visit but the nurses said last time they had a shipment it was out in less than 2 days. So I'll be calling till it's in then heading up the hill to get it.
Did my last glucola test/blood draw. As far as I can tell with my routine that check protein and glucose in urine (which was negative), I don't think the results will come back positive for gestational diabetes. I have now had official weight gain of about 3 pounds. My blood pressure has been on a steady decline actually.
We still have the hospital tour on October 30th at 7pm. That should be fun ^-^.
I'm slotted for another Ultrasound right before (as in 7am and the appointment is at 830 am) next visit due to fundal size being bigger than the Doctor expected for 2 visits in a row now.
We'll have the discussion about C-section next visit. I have growing concerns about the effect of back labor on my back. We were going to discuss it today but the time restraints of the Glucose test did not allow for it.
That's about it. Got a lot going on around here, the mattress should be arriving this week for the crib. My youngest sister got married this weekend and my cousin has been in labor with her daughter since Friday night. I should hear any time now that little Leela is amongst us. There was a little bit of drama over my baby shower, but I think it's pretty sorted out now.
Another update is sure to come. <3

September Visit

All seems to be well. Heartbeat was found immediately and then she proceeded to kick the machine the rest of the time. Did a blood draw to find out why I've been getting dizzy. Glucose test in October, Maternity ward tour October 30th, check on her growth around week 30.It's scary to think that I could technically have her in 13 weeks and she's officially full term in 16. Still so much to do... but before too much longer, we should get to see her face ^-^. Here's to the 6 month mark.

August Appointment

She still has heartbeat and is moving around. Explanation of ultrasound revealed she's maybe 2 days tops ahead of where we thought. Still due 1/15/10. 58th percentile for size ( she said good sign)and no negative markers as far as can be told. Still no weight gain as far as I can tell. Blood pressure is better etc. Looking good as far.
We have a September and October appointments then bi-weekly in November. Glucose test again probably in October. Other than that, it will be heartbeat checks for the most part. Nothing overly exciting till labor time.

It's a Girl

While the ultrasound today was far from pleasant, we got the 2 items of news that we needed.
1. Everything appears to be normal and on developmental track. Baby is very very active and even turned completely around when the technician was showing us her ear.
2. It is most definitely a girl. They of course cannot give us 100% But the tech said she was at least 95% sure and the doctor said he was 98% sure.

They were a little concerned that all of my scar tissue didn't give them as clear of a shot as they had hoped, but they are pretty sure everything is normal. They cannot vouch for actual health, structurally everything does look sound. They even checked on blood flow in various areas (which looked like fireworks on the screen), heart rate (153 bpm), and even umbilical cord arteries.

So everyone, there's little chance her name will change (although I do retain that right) so for now....
We are looking forward to meeting Miss Charlotte (the spitfire)

July Doctor's Visit

Well, I'd say this visit felt better than the last, for the most part. We finally heard the heartbeat (@ 150 bpm) and the baby sloshing around. Mike's been able to feel and see the movement more and more this past week. My first Glucose test was taken and my blood drawn. I will be tested twice if this one is negative, the next test later along. The BIG Ultrasound is scheduled for the morning 17th of August. My center of gravity is changing, the doctor gave a flyer to me for support belts to look into. All is well in general. The August visits are going to be the "biggies" as they mark my halfway point and the checking on gender and development in the Ultrasound and we should get a "more accurate" due date. That's about it for now.

14 Weeks

I am officially in my second trimester now! I've got a one ounce, roughly lemon sized baby that can squint and grimace now according to one of my baby books. My next appointment is a week from this Monday. I dont think we'll be finding out the gender or anything, but hopefully we can now hear the heartbeat. It's almost scary to think that my next visit after this one (the end of August visit) I will be halfway through this. That visit should be the big one, the one we have hopefully see what the baby is and all that jazz. Also everyone should be able to start feeling the baby kick and whatnot starting around then too.
So much to do, so little time.
Love,
L.
